UW Football Player Receives Deferred Sentence

On March 3, 2011, University of Washington football player, and former O’Dea High School standout, Johri Fogerson was stopped by law enforcement because the vehicle he was operating had a faulty headlight. During the stop, officers discovered Johri was in possession of marijuana. While in the process of arresting Johri and putting him in handcuffs, Johri broke free and ran away. Approximately three hours later, after assessing his situation, Johri turned himself into the authorities.

As a result of the March 3rd events, Johri was criminally charged in South District Court, Lynnwood, Washington for Resisting Arrest and Possession of Marijuana. Johri recently plead guilty to one count of Resisting Arrest. He received a three month deferred sentence. His jail time was suspended, he was ordered to pay $150 fine, have no criminal law violations for three month, and attend an alcohol/drug information school class. In light of his guilty plea, the Possession of Marijuana charge was dismissed, and if he completes all of the ordered conditions of sentence, the Resisting Arrest will be dismissed at the end of the three month period. It is not clear yet what, if any, impact this criminal conviction will have on Johri’s U of W football career.
